Frequently Asked Questions...

What is GEN 1?
GEN 1 is a Christian camp dedicated to offering an art experience that unleashes limitless creativity in young people while developing deep relationships with their peers, counselors, and most importantly their Creator. Campers are encouraged to share their stories and explore the plan God has for their lives. Camp Geneva counselors will be joined by local art instructors to assist campers in discovering the "work of art" God has created in them through a wide variety of art classes.

Why is GEN 1 being held at Geneva?
Because this partnership made incredible sense! Planting GEN 1's powerful focus on creative development in Camp Geneva's beautiful lake shore setting will provide an opportunity for budding artists to be surrounded by creation – the ultimate inspiration. Camp Geneva's remarkable atmosphere, dynamic counselors and God-focused mission will provide a firm foundation for GEN 1 to build on. GEN 1 and Camp Geneva's partnership will provide a program on the cutting edge of today's youth culture as well as a safe community for creative and spiritual growth.

When is it?
June 23-27, 2008
Mark your calendars!!

Who can attend?
Anyone who is entering 2nd grade through 9th grade in the fall of 2008

Is this a Geneva week with some GEN 1 ideas or a GEN 1 week at Geneva?
This week will be all the things you've loved about GEN 1 in the past including professional art instruction in core classes and electives (with expanded class offerings!), and opportunities to interact in both small and large groups. Now add to that the Camp Geneva bonus of the lake shore, fun Geneva traditions like polar bearing and the blob, PLUS a staff that shares our commitment to spiritual growth and discovery…it's going to be an amazing week!

Why should we attend?
To expand your interest and skill in the areas of visual arts and explore the connection between God and creative living.

Why is it more expensive?
Essentially, this week will be two programs in one: the best things about GEN 1 combined with all the fun of a regular Geneva week! In addition to the usual camp Geneva activities, we are including all the GEN 1 features of professional, faith-filled art instructors and all the materials necessary for some pretty sophisticated creative learning. NOTE: This is not your typical "Popsicle-stick-house-arts–and-crafts" camp!

What if the classes I sign up for are full?
You will list a first choice and a second choice for each class. We place as many campers as possible in their first choices, but they do fill up fairly quickly. For the best chance to get your favorites – sign up now!

How much time will be spent in art classes each day?
Campers will spend 2 hours a day in art classes; 1 hour of core class and 1 hour of elective class.
